For some time now I have been thinking of building a trolley for driving and passengers that has a lower centre of gravity and is safer for the riders in the event of a derailment. The problem with my line is that the trackside clearances are very tight in places which prevents the use of outside foot boards on my trucks. I know I could widen the formation to allow this, but that would involve a lot of hard work. So the following slideshow shows the construction of a well wagon which will become my riding trolley. Initial trials have been most encouraging.  Click on the thumbnails to enlarge. The small arrows either end of the thumbs will move you through the gallery.

1" (25mm) square steel box section tube is used for the frame of the well wagon. The upper view shows the pieces nailed to a plank ready for welding.
