I haven't done much to my Trojan over the last month and a half. It has been a bit too cold in the garage (engine shed?) to do much except shiver! I know....feeble excuse! Any way, the warmer weather over the last few days has seen renewed activity with an exhaust pipe and the radiator grill being constructed. More of these later. The chassis is now more or less completed, I have ordered the controller from 4QD together with the hand held controller and other sundry items, they have a secure online ordering facility which makes life a lot easier. The motors are now wired up to connectors ready for the controller when it arrives.

I will be getting the batteries soon, so that I will be able to properly test the chassis. The cranks and coupling rods are now completed but will be fitted once I know that everything is ok with the chassis. I am still undecided as to what colour to finish the body in.

Exhaust pipe

The exhaust pipe is an assembly of copper pipe and brass sheet.

I had some 5/16" dia soft copper gas pipe and a piece of 21mm copper water pipe. The soft copper pipe was cut to length for the main pipe and the 21mm pipe cut to form the silencer. I made two washers out of brass sheet to fit inside the 21mm pipe to form the end plates. This was all carefully soldered together. A strip if brass sheet was used to make the top bracket. The assembly will be given a coat of matt black paint to finish.

I might have to cut an inch or so off of the top as it stands a bit high at the moment.
